Upgrade Your Backup
It's a pain, but you have to do it: backing up that important data onto tapes, CDs, DVDs, floppies — anything is better than no backup at all. But instead of hassling with removable media, consider a removable drive, like the new external hard drives and flash drives that are making backups at home and the office easier than ever.Fast and convenient. A large external drive provides extremely fast backups that can hold dozens or more data sets. No need to change discs or tapes. When restoring a file, your backup data is "online" and ready to access.
True plug and play. USB and FireWire devices can be connected and disconnected at will without having to shutdown or restart your computer.
Easy offsite storage. Taking backups off premise for safe storage is simple. Unplug the current device, replace with a new one, and rotate as desired.
Lasts longer and costs less. Due to their low usage, external backup devices can last for years. And when they finally go out, they are relatively inexpensive to replace.
