You really can access your PC or Mac from any computer on the Internet, and you can do it without spending a dime or downloading "trial" software. So put your wallet away and reach out and touch your PC from anywhere. (Divine intervention not required — but an Internet connection is.) Here's how:- Windows XP Pro
If you run Windows XP Pro at home or the office, you have what you need to access your PC using Microsoft's Remote Desktop Client or Internet Explorer. For more, see Microsoft's articles, "Work with All of Your Data and Applications While Away from Your Office" and "Get Started Using Remote Desktop". - Windows Server 2003
If your workplace runs Windows Server 2003, then you may have the ability to securely connect to workstations inside the office when you're on the outside. Check with your IT guy first. - Windows XP Home
The Windows Remote Desktop client that comes with XP Pro will run on XP Home allowing you to connect to a Windows Remote Desktop-enabled system. But if you need to access your XP Home system and don't want to upgrade to XP Pro, then get UltraVNC. - Mac OS
Mac OS users can connect to Windows systems using Microsoft's Remote Desktop Client for Mac. To access your Mac remotely, checkout Redstone Software's OSXvnc.
